Our Production Process

Sustainable Harvesting

Hand-harvested Ecklonia maxima fronds under strict environmental guidelines.

Fresh kelp

Immediate processing of only fresh kelp, to ensure sensitive active ingredients are extracted.

03.

Cold Micronisation Process (CMP)

Our proprietary mechanical extraction process does not use heat, pressures, enzymes or chemicals in order to protect sensitive compounds and preserve the full biological potential of Ecklonia maxima.

04.

Highly concentrated kelp extract

An intermediate, highly concentrated product is extracted, allowing for further in-depth analysis and QC.

Standardisation

Every batch is analysed and standardised to match field dosage recommendations and bioactivity, verified by independent laboratories.

06.

Triple quality control

Every batch undergoes our triple-step quality control protocol. This includes testing for bacterial and fungal growth, LC-MS analysis and measurement of beneficial compounds and standardisation. Afrikelp is also tested independently to ensure consistent efficacy.

Bioassay

Every batch is tested for biological activity against a known IBA standard. We have our own mung bean assay laboratory and every year we count millions of roots to ensure that every batch delivers the biological activity required.
