Common challenges with bell peppers

Bell peppers are native to Central and South America. Christopher Columbus brought peppers back to Europe, where they were initially used as a spice. Bell peppers are the only variety of capsicum that does not contain capsaicin, the compound responsible for the heat in chili peppers. China contributes more than 40% of the 30 million tonnes global production.

General application recommendations

All recommendations are based on field experience and trial results worldwide. Genetics by environment (G X E) must be considered in all applications as this has an impact on plant growth and production. Please contact your local supplier/advisor for additional technical assistance. Each recommendation should be adapted to local conditions and/or optimised depending on crop varieties, soil, environment and fertilisation programs.
