Common challenges with almonds

Almonds are the most widely grown tree nut globally. First cultivated in the Middle East and Central Asia, they spread to the Mediterranean via trade routes and were later introduced to the Americas by Spanish missionaries in the 18th century. With global annual production of 3 million tonnes on 2.3 million hectares, more than 80% of this supply is grown in California.

General application recommendations

All recommendations are based on field experience and trial results worldwide. Genetics by environment (G X E) must be considered in all applications as this has an impact on plant growth and production. Please contact your local supplier/advisor for additional technical assistance. Each recommendation should be adapted to local conditions and/or optimised depending on crop varieties, soil, environment and fertilisation programs.
